"Jetzt war es ein leichtes für ihn auch
die gegenüberliegende Magenwand zu öffnen. Alle fleischliche Agonie von zu Wahn
gewordenem Seelenleid betäubt, griff er tiefer in seinen Leib hinein und gelangte
an sein Ziel.
Er kappte die Schlagadern, welche das heftig zuckende Organ
festhielten und beförderte dieses mit einem beherzten Ruck ins Freie.
So erstarrte
er schließlich, seinen Herzmuskel hoch in Richtung ihres Abbildes erhoben, in
einer Todespose von bizarr-kitschiger Symbolik."
""Ich hab' schon so manches von ihren
Aktivitäten mitbekommen. Einiges haben auch die Kameras aufgezeichnet. Eine ist
nach draußen auf den Circle Drive gerichtet; dort taucht sie meistens auf - wie
aus dem Nichts. Dann kommen die beiden Vasallinnen und sie gehen gemeinsam auf
die Jagd."
"Ist sie der Exiter?"
Ein verhaltenes Lachen entfuhr dem Schrotthändler.
"Nein. Aber sagen wir...nun, sie ist so etwas wie die Ursache, deren Wirkung der
Exiter ist."
"Soll heißen?"
"Oh, ja. Sicher. Ich meine: Die wenigen Leute
die hier noch leben, nun ja, die haben alle mehr als nur einen halben an der Waffel,
wenn sie verstehen. Sie werden verrückt, depressiv, drogensüchtig,... Sie verzweifeln.
Alles Geschehende hat seinen Ursprung und seine Begründung.
Aber ich glaube
nichtmal, daß das alles ihre Absicht ist. Das sind, sagen wir, Nebenwirkungen
ihres notwendigen Handelns. Oder einfach ihrer Existenz an sich. Licht gebiert
nun 'mal Schatten.""
